Vienna Salam is from Kirkuk, Kurdistan, and holds an MA in English Literature from the University of Kurdistan Hewlêr (UKH). She currently teaches English Literature at UKH and serves as the Manager of the Center for Pedagogy and Academic Development.
An educator, translator, and humanitarian activist, she has been translating literary articles and poetry into Kurdish since 2015. She is the translator of Elif Shafak's Black Milk, which has been published in Kurdish in 2018.
